As per Ayurveda Texts: Worm Infestation in Children
The occurrence of the following worms in different parts of body in children causes this ailment:
» Kaphaj- produced in the stomach
» Raktaj- produced in the blood vessels
» The worm Purishaj (produced in the intestines) encompasses all the following worms also, which are responsible for infestation:
» Giardiasis
» Ascariasis
» Amebiasis
» Thread worm
» Hook worm
» Tape worm

» Make sure children always wash their hands after going to the bathroom and before eating.
» Keep fingernails short to reduce the chances of picking up worm eggs underneath them.
» Wash all the vegetables, fruits thoroughly before eating raw.
» Meat, especially pork should be thoroughly cooked before eating.
» Ensure that children don't play barefoot in soil.

Home Remedies for Worm Infestation
• Onion juice removes thread worms.
Dosage: Three drops to one teaspoon twice daily
• Neem powder removes all types of worms.
Dosage: 1 to 4 grams twice daily.
• Pinch of asafoetida wrapped in small pieces of jaggery.
Dosage: Half an hour before meals.

• 7 - 12 year
20 grams of jaggery in the morning
After 10 minutes give Celery seeds (Ajwain) + salt (2 grams of celery seeds and one gram of salt) with warm water. This recipe eliminates all types of worms.

Dos and don'ts
• Avoid too many sweets and puddings, very fried, greasy and fast foods.
• Take more green vegetables and fresh fruits.
• Use only boiled water
• Personal hygiene
• Restrict diet to only home made foods

Simple Tips & Home Remedies for Viral Fever

Fever is caused due to the aggravation of any one or all the doshas of the body. Fever can occur as a result of infection, because of external injury, insect bite or poisoning. It must be kept in mind that fever can also be a symptom of many conditions, like bronchitis, pleurisy, tuberculosis, jaundice, malaria, measles or influenza.

Following are the signs that indicate the presence of this ailment:
• High temperature
• Headache
• Muscle ache
• Burning eyes
• Loss of appetite
• Coated tongue
• Excessive production of saliva
• Feeling of heaviness and nausea

It is highly recommended that in Viral Fever you take ample amount of rest with easily digestible diet and lots of liquid to flush out the toxins from the body.

Simple Helpful Tips for Viral Fever
  • In viral fever it is strongly recommended to consume soup made up of raw garlic and onion. 
  • A mixture of honey, lime juice and brandy is recommended to consume four times daily. 
  • The vitamin C in the lime helps in increasing the resistance of the body and helps in reducing the illness. 
  • Lukewarm orange juice acts as an energy booster if consumed during the fever. This washes out the body toxin without any artificial treatment. alterey helps in speedy recovery of viral fever. 
  • Similarly, drinking juice made out of sweet basil leaves twice or thrice a day is beneficial. 
  • You can also boil 2 to 3 tablespoon of dry roasted fenugreek seeds, strain the water and add a drop of clarified butter to it in order to cure viral fever.
  • Khichadi is very good with spices like cumin seeds, coriander, turmeric, ginger and salt can be also be added to it. Small amounts of whole grain bread or biscuits can be taken with milk. Heavy foods that are difficult to digest like fried foods, fast foods, meat, chicken, fish, and raw foods should be completely avoided.
  • Also gargling with salt and water is helpful, as it helps cure cough and throat related problems. Try using vaporizer in this situation as it soothes both cough and cold. One can also use margosa leaves which act as a natural antiviral and prevent the spread of infection.
  • During viral fever, it's very common that the patient loses his appetite. But in this situation, it's very important to take fluid diet and food rich in vitamins and minerals. Apricot juice mixed with one   tablespoon of honey or glucose supplements the body with required minerals and vitamins. Also, you can take grapefruit juice. The extract of raisins is also valuable in case of viral fever.
  • Tulsi leaves when chewed directly or taken in water or tea works wonderfully in this case. 
  • Make sure you drink boiled water. When suffering from viral fever, always consume clean and fresh fruits and vegetables. Always consume home cooked food to prevent the problem from increasing. 
  • You can also take a spoonful of honey mixed with ginger syrup after every meal to cure viral fever.

Cold and flu are common illness that is found in rainy season and this is usually due to fluctuation in the temperature. If you are a student, a working citizen or a mom, you need to protect yourself from these illnesses and prevent from getting sick. The first immediate step that you can do is wash your hands every now and then. Avoid food from outside.

Increasing the intake of Vitamin C either in natural form or as food supplement will help you drive away the cold virus faster. Vitamin C will activate your antibodies and reduce the severity of cold, undoubtedly.
  • Do not enter air conditioned room with wet hair and damp cloths.
  • Shower After Being Caught in Rain as this will protect you from many infections.
  • Increase intake of Hot drinks like a cup of hot milk, adrak tea, vegetable soup etc..This will help you from catching cold or save you from catching any kind of infection that can occur due to sudden change in the temperature of the body.
  • Cleanliness is very important during rainy season. Even if you catch a cold, you should clean your hands regularly and use a sanitizer always after that.
  • Drink Plenty of Water as this will help you drain toxins from your body.
  • Try to eat nutritious food and avoid eating out during rainy season. Prepare meal with full precaution and maintain health and hygiene throughout the house.
  • Wash vegetables with clean water and steam them well to kill germs.
Ayurvedic Tips to increase body immunity and preventing diseases of monsoon.
Rainy season leads to low digestive power.Hence following diets which increase power of and strengthen the digestive system would be beneficial in rainy season.  
  1. Light foods prepared out of old barley, rice and wheat
  2. Sour and salted soups of vegetables.
  3. Drinking boiled and cooled water mixed with little honey.
  4. Consuming little quantity of wine prepared out of grapes.
  5. Adding ginger and green gram in daily diet.
  6. Eating warm food.
  7. Drink a glass of warm water mixed with a tea spoon of honey in empty stomach. This flushes out accumulated toxins.
  8. Freshly prepared radish juice is the best remedy for cold.
  9. A pinch each of long pepper powder and rock salt mixed in warm water reduces cough
  10. Cook rice with recommended quantity of water with crushed ginger and salt. Powder long pepper and fry it in a spoon of cow’s ghee and add it to gruel. Consume this when it hot. This is very light to digest and relieves colic pain.
  11. Incase of Diahorrea cook rice with recommended quantity of water with ginger paste and salt. Add pomegranate juice when the gruel is warm. This gruel rehydrates body and supply energy . This soothes inflamed walls of intestine and controls bowel movements.
  12. In flatulence cook rice, haritaki powder , roots of pippali and water together. Add salt to it.Consume this when it is warm. This relieves flatulence and regularizes the bowel movement.
