Green Tea: A Dietary Supplement Against Aging

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, which prevent our bodies’ cells from damage due to oxidation. The process is not very different from preventing your car from being rusted.

Fast realizing the increasing knowledge of public about the many health benefits of antioxidants as they are being published, the marketers of cold drinks have begun promoting green tea drinks flavored with fruit juices. Apple, lemon, strawberry, peach, and pomegranate, you name it and it’s out there for sale.
Green Tea is often consumed as a dietary supplement. A dietary supplement refers to vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements and other substances (e.g weight loss supplement) meant to improve your diet. Green tea comprises EGCG or the epigallocatechin gallate that makes the tea power packed with the advantages of antioxidants.

As far as aging is concerned, many studies blame free radicals within our bodies as the ones responsible of it. Consequently, the higher the quantity of free radicals in your body, the faster you would age. Since the main job of antioxidants is to neutralize the free radicals their presence is supposed to slow down the rate of aging. Apart from green tea some common sources of antioxidants are apricots, broccoli, pumpkin, cantaloupes, spinach, sweet potatoes and tomatoes. So it makes good sense to supplement your diet with these as well.

However there’s a problem, and that is, once you drink the tea, 80 percent of its antioxidant catechins are lost during digestion, making the mechanism highly inefficient. At the same time a tasty solution to this problem exists. Studies have found that when the tea is coupled with some specific foods, antioxidant absorption becomes a lot more efficient. Out of the edibles that make it so, lemon ranks first, followed by orange, lime and grapefruit juices. In fact lemon has been found to retain 80 percent of the catechins.

No magic potion is needed, even a simple herb such as green tea can go a long way to protect your body from the harmful effects of free radicals, and tastefully too!

Crow's Feet & Loosening of Face Skin

If your skin of face hangs in folds and there are crow's feet under the eyes. Then follow these simple tips as they would  help you. But before that understand what causes crow feet and loosening.

What causes Crow Feet & Loosening of Face Skin
Facial Expressions: Repeated facial expressions, such as squinting in the sun or frequent smiling can lead to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Smoking: The normal aging process of the skin accelerates when a person smokes tobacco products.
Air Pollution: Pollutants in the air can cause wrinkles to form on the skin. A common culprit is ozone, which is behind depleted amounts of vitamin E in the skin. With the loss of this vital antioxidant, increased levels of damage are allowed to take place.

Quick Weight Loss: When an individual loses weight too fast, the volume of fat cells that once served as a cushion for the face decreases. Chemical reactions that take place in the skin will now affect its appearance, making a person look scrawny. Rapid weight loss may also cause the skin to look saggy.

Childhood Sun Exposure: It is believed that about 50% to 80% of skin damage takes place during the childhood and adolescent years when intense exposure to the sun causes a higher incidence of sunburned skin.

Age: The majority of people over the age of 70 are battling at least one skin disorder. Some are known to suffer a whopping three or four skin conditions at one time. While these changes in the skin (including wrinkles) increases with age, other factors such as family history and lifestyle choices throughout the years will have a deep impact.

Home Remedies for Crow's Feet & Loosening of Face Skin
  1. Improve your health by following the basic principles of ayurveda.
  2. Have optimistic outlook on life.
  3. Change Sleeping Positions: Many people create wrinkles on the face when they sleep on their side or stomach because of the increased contact with the pillow. In the worst cases, a diagonal crease located on the forehead that runs just above the eyebrows is a common result. Sleeping on your back helps eliminate this outcome.
  4. Drink at least one to two litres of water in the day.
  5. Taking a supplement that contains B-complex vitamins is a good way to promote healthier and more youthful-looking skin. You may also consume a diet rich in foods that contain this vitamin, such as eggs, whole-wheat products, chicken, and beef. The vitamins A, C, and E found in green leafy vegetables will also freshen up the skin. It is also suggested to consume at least 4 to 6 liters of water on a daily basis. This is one of the best ways to keep the skin hydrated and full of moisturize from within, which is great for tackling wrinkle formation.
  6. Wash the face and neck with warm water and then give it a cold douche. Do not wipe the skin with a towel but massage it with the palms. The palms must move upward from the neck.
  7. Metal Spoons: A metal spoon left in the freezer overnight acts as a decent home wrinkle remedy for the morning. When you first wake up to start a new day, grab your frozen spoon and apply the backs of the utensil to underneath the eye in order to reduce the wrinkles that form in this region.
  8. Cut a green Thompson seedless grape in half and carefully crush it onto your face where wrinkles are present. Leave the juice on the skin for 20 minutes, rinsing off with warm water. Do not pat dry, but allow the face to air-dry. Additionally, you may rub the core of a pineapple onto the face, which is said to work wonders on fine wrinkles. The substance should be left on the skin for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off. The juice of green pineapples and apples applied to the face on a daily basis also make a good home remedy for fine wrinkles and cracked skin.
  9. Apply sesame or coconut oil over the face and neck before you go to sleep. Pat the face lightly after application of oil for three to four minutes. Wipe the oil with a soft cloth and then with a wet towel..
  10. Use Sunscreen: Protect and moisturize the face by using sunscreen and avoiding reflective surfaces, such as water, sand, and concrete.
  11. Extra Virgin Olive Oil: After thoroughly washing the face and patting it dry, use a cotton ball and 3% hydrogen peroxide to lightly rub the face. Once the solution dries, apply a very small amount of organic 100% extra virgin olive oil, making sure to cover the face and neck. Wrinkle prevention also comes when mixing one tablespoon of olive oil with ½ tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Rub the mixture onto the skin to treat and prevent wrinkles.
  12. Remember that anger and irritation add to the lines of age on the face. A smile, better still, a hearty laugh exercises the muscles of the face better than anything and that can take care of the loose skin better than anything.

Anti Aging Home Remedies

Ayurvedic anti aging alternative herbal and home remedies. Tips on getting rid of dry skin, wrinkles, crow's feet for youthful skin.

The Simple Truth
Most home remedies just involve using things that we already know are healthy. Most products use combinations of healthy ingredients. The secret to most cosmetic and health related issues is simply healthy diet and exercise. Fruits and veggies won't make us 20 years younger or turn us into super models, but they are essential to being as healthy, young, and beautiful as we can be and nobody was ever hurt by a healthy diet.

Avoiding bad things is just as important as consuming good things. Smoking, drinking, and excessive coffee consumption are all things we have known age us much more rapidly, but many of us continue to use them anyway. The simple truth is that with or without home miracle remedies, we all already know how to live healthy and vibrant lives.

As per Ayurveda

Premature aging of the skin is caused due to the aggravation of vata dosha, which naturally increases with age. Dryness of skin is a predominant trait of a Vata dosha body type constitution. Even in other people, Vata causes dryness of the skin when it is vitiated due to seasonal influences. In fact, skin ages due to both- internal as well as external factors. Internal factors may be listed as inability of skin to retain moisture, low levels of elastin production, lesser production of new skin cells etc. External factors include lifestyle choices and surrounding environment such as smoking, prolonged exposure to sun or extreme cold, poor diet, stress, lack of exercise etc.

Almond and coconut oil are best Ayurvedic remedies for aging skin as they improve complexions, reduce fine lines and wrinkles apart from curing crow's feet. For better absorption, anti-aging oil massages should be done at night.

  • Ghee or clarified butter contains vitamin E, beta-carotene, and antioxidants that prevent cell damage and fight free radicals. Rub ghee all over your body to get it absorbed in the skin. The best way to get benefits of ghee is to include it in your daily diet. Mix 1-2 teaspoons of ghee while cooking vegetables, dals etc.
  • Empty three capsules of Vitamin E into a bowl. Add 2 tsp plain yogurt, 1/2 tsp honey, and 1/2 tsp lemon juice. Apply to desired areas with a cotton ball or something similarly absorbent. Leave this on your skin for at least 10 minutes.

Follow the traditional Ayurvedic method of boiling fresh tulsi leaves and water until the water reduces to half. Then drink the resulting water. The other ayurvedic way of having basil leaves is to eat the crushed herb when it cools.
Follow These Additional Tips:
  • Avoid too much of sun exposure as it is one of the main causes of wrinkles. Use umbrella, scarves or any other protective cover when going out in sun.
  • Quit smoking Cigarette smoke ages skin by releasing an enzyme that breaks down elastin and collagen- vital components of skin.
  • Get adequate sleep. Sleeping position is also important. Try to sleep on your back, as it prevents wrinkle formation. Sleeping on sides may cause wrinkles on chin and cheek and sleeping with face-down will result in furrowed brow.
  • Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. They have anti-oxidants that help fight damage caused by free radicals. They keep skin younger and radiant.
  • Drink lots of water during the day to provide optimum supply of moisture to the skin.
  • Do not over-wash your face. Washing face too often removes skin off its natural barrier oils and moisture that protect against wrinkles.
  • Switch to green tea. Green tea has anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing, and healing effects on skin which helps in skin rejuvenation.
  • Get a humidifier. Dry skin contributes to wrinkles. Humidifiers are inexpensive and will moisten the air that is usually dried out by air conditioners and heaters.
  • Exercise your face. Many wrinkles are caused by the skin staying immobile for long periods of time. By doing regular expression exercises, you will increase the elasticity in your skin and reduce wrinkle.
